For all the readers of Rottentamatar, we have decided to come out with a poll on the Best TV Shows, Best TV actors. The ones that get maximum votes will be adjudged the Best Indian TV Serials.
Here are the nominations:

1. BALIKA VADHU - Story of a little girl Anandi who gets married at a young age of 12 in the household of Kalyani Devi. The best thing about this serial is the rural backdrop of Rajasthani village and the issue of child marriage and the evils associated with it.

2. AAPKI ANTARA - A sensitive story of a young Autistic girl and the challenges her family faces while raisingher in a society which has no space for an Autistic child and a society which has no idea what Antara is suffering from. Aapki Antara’s greatest achievement has been creating awareness for the mental disorder called Autism which many people knew little about.

3.SAPNA BABUL KA BIDAAI: Story of two sisters, Bidaai is all about the challenges Raagini faces in the hands of the society because she is dark complexioned as opposed to her pretty sister Sadhna. Bidaai’s central theme is the Indian obsession for fair skin and beauty, which makes people overlook the inner beauty of Raagini.

4. AGLE JANAM MOHE BITYA HI KIJO: This serial is the story of young lower caste Bihari girl Laali, whose in-laws refuse to take her to their house because her father couldn’t afford to give dowry to them. Fate lands her into the Lohar Singh household, who buys her as a keep for his son. Laali, but upholds her values and manages to keep her purity intact in the dirty world around her. This serial brings out significant issues about womens rights in the rural and lower caste women of India.
5. NA AANA IS DESH LAADO: Set in a village called Veerpur in Haryana, the central theme of Na Aana Is Desh Laado is the female infanticide rampant in some parts of rural India. Amma Ji the village mukhiya keeps up the tradition of killing the girl children because she thinks they bring shame to family. Siya a young urban girl stands against this social evil in the village.

6. CHOTI BAHU: Choti Bahu is the story of young Radhika, an adopted daughter of Shastri Ji of Vrindavan. She gets married by chance to the Raj Purohit’s son Dev, when her sister Vishakha runs away from home. Although she is married to Dev, she is forced to live like a single woman. This serial is popular with the masses because of the sensitive portrayal of the love story between Dev and Radhika who are bonded by soul.

7. 12/24 KAROL BAGH: Away from the rural and palatial house, is a small house in the heart of Delhi, where a simple middle class family of Rajinder Sethi resides. The main lead of the story is

Simran Sethi, thirty years old an slightly over weight. Simran’s mother is worried and desperate to find a good match for her daughter on whose fate depends the fate of her brother and sisters. Karol Bagh wins thumbs up for the realistic treatment of the story.
8. KITANI MOHABBAT HAI: Kitani Mohabbat Hai wins thumbs up for good storyline and characterization, that kept the romantics hooked up to the lives of Arjun and Aarohi, who fall in love madly despite being opposites in nature.
9. YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is the ideal family drama revolving around the arranged marriage of Akshara and Naitik and their challenges. The biggest challenge ahead of Akshara is to hold her head in high esteem and fulfill all her duties in her Sasural. The story is her journey into the new life and new family.
10. PAVITRA RISHTA: Can education and career define a person’s character and win him/her a good partner? Pavitra Rishta is the story of a middle-class Maharashtrian girl Archana, a school drop-out but an extremely good human being whose mom aims at getting her married to an educated well-to-do boy. Fate lands her with Manav, a garage mechanic, school drop out. Archana and Manav turn out to be soul mates but fate has more challenges for them until the finally unite.
